Supporting recovery efforts and enhancing the National Infrastructure Pipeline

PUBLISHED 31 AUGUST 2023

We are working to support regions in their recovery efforts by producing workforce projections that provide an overview of the construction workforce that may be needed to deliver anticipated recovery projects. These early workforce projections will change but having a view now will support affected regions in their project planning and coordination. This can also support the construction industry to identify potential workforce needs. We’ll be sharing these projections more widely in the coming weeks.

The production of the recovery construction workforce projections has been achieved with the support of the Construction Sector Accord.

We are also working with Waihanga Ara Rau (the Workforce Development Council for Construction and Infrastructure), which is providing recovery workforce forecasts for the residential construction insights on their Workforce Information Platform.

The workforce projections will be used to enhance the National Infrastructure Pipeline and will increase our understanding of the delivery capacity of the New Zealand construction market.
