Anna Moodie appointed General Manager - Operations

We are pleased to announce that Anna Moodie has been appointed as General Manager – Operations and will join Te Waihanga in September.

Currently the Group General Counsel – Governance, Risk & Legal at Waka Kotahi, Anna has held a range of senior management roles within the organisation. She also has wide infrastructure experience, having worked in telecommunications and health as well as transport.

We’ve asked her a couple of questions so you can get to know her a little better.

Tell us why you were interested in the GM Operations role at Te Waihanga

Te Waihanga is helping to solve some of Aotearoa's most complex infrastructure problems. I’ve spent most of my career working in infrastructure because of the positive impact infrastructure can have on the lives of every New Zealander. We are a small country that, right now, is facing some big infrastructure challenges and Te Waihanga is at the centre of tackling those challenges. I’m excited to be part of that.

I am also looking forward to working in a small agile organisation with a bunch of smart and passionate people. Everyone I talk to speaks really highly of the positive culture and leadership at Te Waihanga, which is also really important to me.

What do you bring to this position?

I’ve worked across telecommunications, transport and health, in both public and private sector, and across infrastructure delivery and regulation. So I bring a broad perspective on how infrastructure is delivered and managed in practice, the way policy and regulation can impact infrastructure, and how the different funding and delivery models work. It means I can play a translator role between people working in different types of infrastructure and between the public and private sector.

One of the things I love about infrastructure is that you need such a broad range of skills to find innovative solutions to big problems. I love bringing together engineers, technology experts, lawyers, economists and others and seeing how the diverse perspectives can lead to super creative solutions. I’m also really passionate about great people leadership - if we can create a positive culture and help people grow, the things people can achieve are extraordinary.
